TIME:
Schedules will be posted online four days prior to the tournament.

FEE:
$250 per team.
 
Full payment must be made if registering online.
$50 payment required when registering with paper form. Remaining $200 can be paid on site before your first game.
 
By registering for this event all participants agree to the Sunflower State Games NO refund policy.

July 8 for Men's USSSA Sanctioned Open, Men's Rec, and Women's.

Late registration accepted at commissioner's discretion with a $15 late fee.

TEAM ROSTERS & WAIVER FORMS:

  • Please read this section carefully regarding the policy and procedure for submitting Team Rosters and Waiver Forms.
  • Commemorative t-shirts will only be distributed to participants who have been added to the team roster online by July 1. Any participant added to a team roster after July 1 will NOT receive a commemorative t-shirt.
  • Roster and Waiver Deadline: 6 p.m. on Friday, July 14 for Men's USSSA Sanctioned Open, Men's Rec, and Women's: Your full roster must be submitted online by this date. Rosters will be frozen at this time. Your signed waiver form must also be received in our office by this date. Waivers will not be accepted at the event.
  • Roster and Waiver Deadline: 6 p.m. on Friday, July 28 for Co-Ed USSSA Sanctioned Open, Co-Ed Rec, and Seniors 50+/60+/70+: Your full roster must be submitted online by this date. Rosters will be frozen at this time. Your signed waiver form must also be received in our office by this date. Waivers will not be accepted at the event.
  • By registering for this event, all teams agree to follow the Roster & Waiver submission policies and procedures.
  • If the above deadline is not met, your team will be pulled from the tournament and a refund will NOT be issued.
  • Roster limit of 14. Minimum of 10. Strictly enforced.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • USSSA rules will be used for all divisions. Men's Open and Co-Ed Open will be USSSA Sanctioned events. All teams must be sanctioned through USSSA to compete in the Men's Open and Co-Ed Open divisions. Click here for USSSA sanctioning information.
  • All sanctioned divisions will be allowed 4 Home Runs, then follow the 1 Up Progressive Rule.
  • Men's Rec and Co-Ed Rec will be allowed 2 Home Runs, then follow the 1 Up Progressive Rule, all additional home runs will be considered a walk.
  • Seniors 50+/60+/70+ will be allowed 2 Home Runs, then follow the 1 Up Progressive Rule, all additional home runs will be considered a walk.

  • Women will not be allowed to swing Ultra bats.
  • Please direct all questions regarding rules and tournament format to the Sport Commissioner.
  • Click here for Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Code of Conduct and Rueger Park Guidelines. Teams agree to follow these rules and guidelines by registering for the tournament.
  • Tournament format will be bracket play only. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games.
  • In case of weather delays, SSG staff reserves the right to alter tournament format and schedule. Bracket Fill Policy applies.
  • Each team will be required to provide lineup cards, and balls for play.  Please have more than one ball on hand for play if a ball gets hit over the fence (fair or foul) or is not allowed for play.  Coed must provide the same, but also one legal ball for men and one legal ball for women. Please click here for allowable bats and balls by USSSA.
  • Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals awarded to the top three teams in each age division. Trophy awarded to the first place team in each division.

HOME RUN DERBY:

  • *NEW IN 2017* The Sunflower State Games will be hosting a Home Run Derby with the Slow Pitch Softball Tournaments.
  • Winner of the Derby will receive half of the pot!
  • If you would like to participate in the Home Run Derby, you will sign up on site with the Sport Commissioner, it will be $10 per person. Maximum of 2 entries per person.
  • You will need to provide your own bat, balls, and pitcher for this event.
  • The amount of pitches per round will go as follows:
    • 1st Round: 10 pitches/8 swings
    • 2nd Round: 5 pitches/3 swings
    • 3rd Round: 2 pitches/1swing

NOTE:

Rec teams are composed of average players who can hit, run, and throw with some proficiency, appreciate competition, play hard but play for fun and enjoyment.  These are teams that “overall” don’t have players who are “over the fence home run hitters.”  Men’s Rec and Co-ed Rec will be allowed 2 Home Runs, then follow the 1 Up Progressive Rule, all additional home runs will be considered a walk. If you have B, C or D players, your team should be in the “USSSA Sanctioned Open” division.
