Big Bass Team Tournament

 

DATE:  Saturday, July 11, 2020

SITE:  Melvern Lake / East State Park Boat Ramp. Click here for directions.

TIME:  Check-in/Registration - 6am.  Competition begins at 7am.  Fishing ends at 1pm.

FEE:  $60 per team (2 person teams)

REGISTRATION:  Registration will open March 1st.  Online registration only.

WAIVER:  Click here to download and print the FHBA Waiver and Relase. All teams must submit this completed form to the Sport Commissioner at check-in the day of the event.

DEADLINE:  Friday, July 3rd at 6pm.  The deadline will not be extended.  No late entries.

EVENT DAY ENTRIES:  Day of entries will be accepted with a $5 late fee. Cash only.

T-SHIRTS:  Commemorative t-shirts will only be distributed to participants who register prior to the posted deadline.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Big Bass with hourly prizes and grand prize.
  • Adult only. Youth may enter with adult permission and supervision.
  • In the event of inclement weather prior to the start of the event, all decisions will be made at the ramp by the Sport Commissioner. After the start of a tournament, the decision will be at the discretion of the team participating. However, if one member of the team wants to leave the water the other member must comply or risk disqualification. If the team trailers the boat and the weather improves, they may return to complete the seminar without penalty if time remains.
  • Both partners must remain in the boat at all times except in cases of dire emergency or where their safety is involved. Fishing only “from within the boat” is permitted.
  • All boats will be started in an “ooze-off” manner away from all coves, marinas and boat ramps. The Sport Commissioner will determine the starting order. The highest number boat drawn prior to the event will start each boat for the event.
  • Fishing is permitted any place on the event waters unless posted as NO FISHING. NO fishing is permitted within 50 yards of another member’s boat that was first in that location, unless given permission by the partners in the first boat.
  • Any fishing boat may be used that is 15 feet or more in length. Any motor may be used that does not exceed the horsepower capacity plate on the boat. A smaller additional gasoline or electric motor may be used to maneuver the boat while fishing. TROLLING IS NOT ALLOWED.
  • Only artificial bait or lures may be used. LIVE BAIT MAY NOT AND WILL NOT BE USED.
  • Each team must present fish to a measuring official to be measured. Once measured, official will mark length and time. Team will sign the score sheet.
  • All boats must comply with U.S. Coast Guard safety regulations. All contestants are required to have PFD’s (life jackets) on and properly secured anytime the combustion engine is in operation.
  • All State and Federal boating and fishing rules will be observed at all times.
  • All boats having remote controls and used in a tournament must have a “KILL” switch in operating order. The kill switch will be connected to the boat operator when the boat is on plane.
  • Periodic boat inspections will be held at the discretion of the Sport Commissioner.
  • All boats used in this tournament must be insured and proof of insurance must be turned into the Sport Commissioner prior the start of the event before the boat will be permitted for use in the event. Boat owners must carry a minimum of $100,000 single limit liability insurance.

TOURNAMENT PRIZES:  Prize distribution will be dependent of number of teams. There will be 6 Academy Sports Gift Cards presented to hourly big fish winners. There will be one grand prize winner of an Academy Sports Gift Card. Ties will be broken by earliest time weighed. Gift card distribution will be 10% hourly and 40% overall, all presented at conclusion of event. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals to the top 3 overall teams. Trophy to the first place team.
