AGE DIVISIONS:

Age groups for both Male and Female. Age determination is July 8, 2023.  6 & Under (2017-2023), 7-8 (2016 - 2015), 9-10 (2014-2013), 11-12 (2012-2011), 13-14 (2010-2009), High School (2008-2005), Collegiate (2004-1999), 19-29 (2004-1994), 30-39 (1993-1984), 40-49 (1983-1974), 50+ (1973-1923).  Weight classes are grouped together after all weigh-ins are completed, and will be madisoned blocked and wrestled in a round robin.
 

REQUIRED WEIGH-IN:

  • On Site at Stormont Vail Event Center: Friday, July 12: 6:00-8:00 p.m. ALL weigh-ins must be completed on Friday night.  NO weigh-ins will be done on Saturday, July 13th. 

  • All wrestlers competing in the Takedown Tournament must check in and weigh in before 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. This is to ensure that all wrestlers are committed to competing and are placed in brackets.
     

COMPETITION INFORMATION:

  • National Federation of High School Activities Association rules will apply for Folkstyle.

  • To compete in the High School or College divisions, participants must be actively wrestling in High School or College the upcoming school year.

  • Tournament is not sanctioned but is certified.

  • Wrestlers will be grouped by weight after entry and weigh-in.

  • Weight on entry form must be in competition singlet.

  • Weigh-in relevant to age group. If no competition in age group, wrestlers will be placed in the next highest age group or weight class.

  • Ear protection and singlet is recommended but not required.

  • Male and female participants will wrestle together unless sufficient wrestlers for each is available.

  • Age is determined by actual age on day of competition.
    Top three individuals in each weight classes will receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals. 

  • Top three individuals in each weight class will qualify to go to State Games of America 2024 in San Diego.

  • USA Wrestling cards not required.
     

TAKEDOWN TOURNAMENT SPECIFIC RULES:

  • Matches will consist of a single three minute period.

  • Takedowns are the standard two points. However, you may earn one bonus point for taking your opponent down directly to their back (back exposed). 

  • Once a takedown has been scored, the clock will stop. Wrestlers will reset and the clock will start again.

  • The wrestler with the most points scored at the end of the period will be the winner.

  • If at any time one wrestler is ahead by ten points or more, the match will end and the winner will be declared via a "technical fall."

  • Overtime Procedures: A) One minute sudden death period will be wrestled. B) If the score is still tied at the end of the sudden death period, the winner will be the wrestler who had the most takedowns in the match. C) If both wrestlers have the same number of takedowns, the winner will be the one with the most bonus points. D) If still tied, the winner will be decided by a coin flip.

  • Takedown participants must weigh-in on Friday evening between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
     

GENERAL:

  • SSG and Stormont Vail Events Center are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • Please note that outside food and drink are not allowed inside the Stormont Vail Events Center (formerly Kansas Expocentre). Concessions will be sold on site.
